Description
This kit is designed with specific primers and probes based on the EB virus gene [2-3]. Fluorescence PCR technology is used for in vitro amplification and detection of EB virus nucleic acid, which is used for pathogen diagnosis of suspected infectious materials in clinical practice.
Application
Epstein Barr Virus (EBV), also known as Human Herpes Virus 4 (HHV-4), is a virus discovered by Epstein and Barr in 1964 while studying lymphoma (BL) in African children. It is a pathogen of infectious mononucleosis and is associated with BL and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. EBV is widely prevalent, with 80-90% of adults experiencing EBV infection. After infection, most young children have no obvious symptoms or may cause mild pharyngitis and upper respiratory tract infections, and about 50% may develop infectious mononucleosis. The virus is mainly transmitted through saliva and can also be transmitted through blood transfusions. After infection, EBV may proliferate in the epithelial cells of the oropharynx, and then infect the B cells of the local mucosa. These cells enter the bloodstream and cause systemic EBV infection [1-2].
This kit is suitable for detecting EB virus in serum and other samples, and is used for auxiliary diagnosis of EB virus infection.
